My main goal is to keep the student inspired, focused and good spirited – the most important aspects to keep a student practicing, the only way to improve!
I design each drum lesson for the individual student and her/his needs.
I draw from many proven and well established drum methods and combine them with
my own teaching method which I have developed over many years.
Learn:
- the basics: posture, hand technique, foot technique, the drum
rudiments, independence, the understanding of rhytmic notation - to play many different styles such as Funk, Rock, Jazz and styles from Latin America, Africa and the Caribbean
- how to improve your technical skills
- how to function in a band
- how to improvise in different music genres
- to read drum charts or transcriptions
- to develop your own practice schedule
- to have fun with your instrument and set goals
I have taught many students with special needs and can prepare students for college and high school auditions.
Through my performance experience with many different African, African-Caribbean and
Latin American artists, I have gained a wide expertise in many world music styles, which
can be explored in the studentʼs lesson.
